As one of the many voices of Post Road, I write these posts on behalf of our chorus. Realizing I have the power of the pen(/keyboard!), today's post is TO the chorus instead.
"It's the journey, not the destination" is one of my favorite quotes (TS Eliot? Ralph Waldo Emerson?). After our final rehearsal before contest, I feel a fresh appreciation for its message.
Why? Because we're READY for lights, camera, music! Contest will be a fun, amazing experience. And our tally on contest's audio/visual rubric will be a useful snapshot for our scrapbook.
But at rehearsal last night, I felt like I had fresh eyes after my absence. In my spot in the circle, I just reveled at how so many and such different women found common ground in their enthusiasm to sing, learn, laugh, and create. Post Road's journey is a perpetual, heartfelt embrace of courageous women choosing to overcome inhibitions, share their voices, and strive to create resonating harmony. We drop our guards, step outside our comfort zones, and make our mistakes OUT LOUD, completely secure of support and encouragement. COMPLETELY secure of support and encouragement (because it bears repeating). Every week.
Together, in our chosen family, we nurture, cultivate and grow this unique experience.
This is the cherished essence of Post Road Chorus. This is our journey, and I treasure being on it with all of you. - Karen ❤️
